Battle in the jungle

Battle in the jungle by Adrian curry of the ibt report

Pickerington central took on Hilliard bradley in a battle of superstar guards. The tigers come winners of 4 straight including a dominating win over groveport the night before while the jags got an impressive 53-43 win over Olentangy liberty. This game had a frenetic pace early as both teams went up and down the court. The tigers seized control early on and were able to get contributions from everybody and keep Bradley’s offense in check to lead 18-7 at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd quarter started out more of the same as the jags turned the ball over leading to easy baskets by the tigers. They stretched their lead to 23-9. The jags went on a run led by Carly Callahan as they were able to get within 8 late in the 2nd quarter. A key possession where a missed free throw by pick central was rebounded by Olivia Cooper and it allowed the tigers to regain momentum and have a 36-25 halftime lead. The tigers were slow out the gates in the 3rd quarter which allowed the jags to hang around and be down by 10 early in the 3rd quarter. Then the tigers picked up their defensive intensity and this led to a massive run that put the game basically out of reach. The tigers outscored the jags in the 3rd quarter 20-8 to lead 56-33 at the end of 3. The final quarter was more of the same as the tigers dominated the 4th quarter and coasted to a 68-49 victory. With the win pick central improves to 9-6 and on a 7-game winning streak while bradley drops to 9-7.
