Battle of the Elite
In a massive week of 🔥 games and division showdowns tonight took me to Dublin Coffman as Nubians took on the Rocks. Coffman comes in after a close win over Olentangy Liberty while Africentric opened up their covid-delayed season with a dominating win on Monday. This game opened up with each team feeling each other out and was tight early. Coffman was able to take advantage of missed shots and turnovers from Africentric’s guards to jump out to an early lead but Africentric cut the lead to 16-13 at the end of 1. The 2nd quarter really decided this game as Coffman’s defense suffocated Africentric’s offense and they were not able to get Maliyah Johnson and Arianna Smith going. Coffman was able to turn over Africentric for easy baskets in transition and had open looks inside and outside. Africentric had many opportunities but were unable to cash in. Coffman limited Africentric to 4 points in the 2nd quarter and lead 40-17 at the half. The 3rd quarter saw Africentric come storming back with their trademark aggressive defense. Showing toughness and a championship pedigree, the Nubians are known for they were able to cut Coffman’s lead to 12 thanks to Aniyah Murphy but Coffman regrouped and led 52-36 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter Africentric was never able to cut the lead any further and Coffman was able to stifle Africentric and went on to the impressive win 63-42. Tessa "Da Kid" Grady led all scorers with 26 points with Cassidy Lafler dropping in 14pts. The freshmen Kamryn "The Franchise" Grant and Maliyah Johnson, the Pitt commit led Africentric with 11 points. With the win Coffman improves to 13-1 while Africentric drops to 1-1.
