Big battle at Darby
Tonight I tuned into to a huge OCC-Cardinal battle between Hilliard Darby and Olentangy. Both teams came in at 4-1 in league play with the winner having sole possession of first place with one week to go in the regular season. This game started out slow as both teams took the lead early. Towards the end of the quarter the Panthers started to take control and grabbed a 13-9 lead at the first quarter. The 2nd quarter was more of the same as the Panthers were deliberate offensively and passed the ball around looking for a great shot. They were able to find wide-open looks and established themselves inside with great looks as well. They were able to shut down Olentangy in the first with great defense and only allowed 3 2nd quarter points to lead 21-12 at the half. The 3rd quarter was a sluggish 3rd quarter for the Panthers with some questionable shot selection which allowed the Braves to stay in it but a late Panther spurt allowed them to have an 11-point lead at 30-19 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter saw the Panthers maintain the lead even though Kennedie (Put some BOP in it) Doup from Olentangy hit a couple of threes to get Olentangy back in the game but the Panthers closed it out from the line and was able to win 40-33. With the win, Darby improves to 6-8 but more important 5-1 in the OCC-Cardinal and controls its own destiny for the league title while Olentangy drops to 7-5 and are 4-2 in the occ-Cardinal and their title hopes are on life support
