Journey to the tourney day 2

Journey to the tourney day 2 by Adrian curry

Yesterday I traveled down to Lakota west to watch day 2 of journey to the tourney. The first matchup was Lakota East and Monroe. This was a back and forth game with many lead changes that occurred. Monroe took a late lead only to see Morgan novena tie it to send it to overtime . Monroe would take over in overtime win this overtime thriller. Paige Frazier led all scorers with 15 points while Morgan novean led Lakota East with 9 points. The next game was centerville vs western brown. The talent of centerville was on full display as they dominated from the opening tip and were able to rest starters in the 4th quarter. Cotie McMahon, the osu commit is always the best player on the floor and proved again versus western brown easily scoring 27 points in 3 quarters of play. She had help from her other teammates including sophomore sensations Kendal George and Anna grim. Both played really well as the elks won 68-30 over western brown. The next game was Wayne vs Arizona compass. This was a game of momentum shifts. Wayne grabbed the early lead but then Arizona compass came back to tie it up only to see Wayne regain control and lead by 9 at the half. The 2nd half saw Arizona compass mount a rally as they used defense and some transition baskets to claw back in the game playing an aggressive style but key baskets by Bree hall and Lovie Malone pushed the lead back to 9. In the 4th quarter, Wayne’s talent and aggressive style eventually wearing down Arizona compass and a key stretch where the lead was down to 5 and a key basket by Bree hall clinched the game and the warriors went on to win 51-39. Bree hall led all scorers with 26 points while samara curry led Arizona compass with 10 points. The next game was the most anticipated game of the day as the number 2 and 3 ranked teams battled it out in the battle of the dames. Early on it was a feeling out process and a slow start by mount Notre dame but as the quarter ended they found their footing thanks to kk brans ford and Laila phelia. They led 14-8 at the end of 1. The 2nd quarter was where mnd started to seize control of the game but Toledo notre dame stayed within range thanks to Olivia sims shooting to only trail by 9 at the break. The 3rd quarter was the Laila phelia show as she started to heat up on both ends of the floor and would make tough shots inside and make timely threes to grab a 12-point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Mnd would not allow Toledo notre dame to get no closer as they won 53-39. Laila phelia led all scorers with 20 points while grace vanslooten led Toledo notre dame with 15 points. The next game was an entertaining contest between trotwood Madison and Princeton. This was a high-paced game from the word go. Both teams look to run in transition which they were able to do. Princeton grabbed an 5-point lead at the end of 1. Trotwood hung around and were able to tie the game only to see the Vikings regain the lead and lead 29-21 at the half. The Vikings were able to take advantage of the rams turnovers into points and dominated in the post and would get offensive rebounds. They led 45-33 at the end of three. The rams were never able to get back in the game as they lost to Princeton 56-42. Quiana Huffman led all scorers with 22 points while Dede carter-Hanley led Princeton with 21. The next game was competitive between catholic central and Lebanon was competitive early in the first quarter but then Lebanon turned the defensive intensity and it was no looking back as they dominated the rest of the game and showed how talented they were winning going away 74-44. Kendall foley led all scorers with 24 points. The final game of the day was a good one between Lakota west and Sidney. This game had momentum swings and was a very physical and competitive game. The firebirds led by 1 at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd quarter went back and forth and led to the score being tied at 20. The 2nd half saw the firebirds take control thanks to the great shooting of Chance gray and the timely defense of the firebirds. They led by 6 at the end of three. Sidney made a comeback and was down one late with a chance to take the lead and was called for traveling. A 3-pointer by chance gray sealed the win for Lakota west as they went on to 47-41. Chance gray led all scorers with 21 while Alessandra Stockton led Sidney with 10 points.
